Oracle Database Performance Monitoring

Germain APM can be configured to perform basic availability monitoring, as well as more in-depth monitoring of Oracle database servers.
For basic monitoring of a single instance, Germain APM uses a regular database user account with CONNECT permissions. In the case of Oracle RAC, it is possible to monitor the status of the cluster as a whole or that of individual instances.
In order to perform more in-depth monitoring, the database user needs to be granted additional permissions to execute queries against a series of system views:

Table / View

Permission

V$SYSSTAT

SELECT

V$SYSTEM_EVENT

SELECT

V$SESSION

SELECT

V$SQL

SELECT

V$SQLTEXT

SELECT

V$SYSTEM_PARAMETER

SELECT

V$RESOURCE_LIMIT

SELECT

V$SQLSTATS

SELECT

V$SESSTAT

SELECT

V$STATNAMESELECT

Please note that Germain APM can monitor any other oracle tables (system or data) i.e. the above requirements are the bare minimum requirements yet can be extended to any other tables.

Oracle Database Configuration Monitoring

Germain APM can monitor the configuration level of your oracle database server, so please make sure you grant read permission to the oracle database configuration files are given to Germain APM.

Oracle Database Maintenance

Germain APM can purge temporary files that are created by Oracle Database Server (If allowed by the database vendor). So please make sure Germain APM is given remote read/write access to these temporary files.
